Assistant Professor
Music Education – Choral/Tenure-Track

The Assistant Professor teaches undergraduate secondary choral methods and other courses as needed; teaches graduate music education courses; supervises student teachers; directs theses and dissertations; contributes to scholarly research in the discipline; develops relationships with state and local music teachers; engages in service at the local, regional and national levels; and supervises an annual solo/ensemble festival.

Associate/Full Professor
Director of Choral Studies/Tenure Track
School of Music

The Director of Choral Studies (DCS) is responsible for the choral program at LSU, currently five distinct choirs including the acclaimed LSU A Cappella Choir, prominent through performances before national and divisional audiences of the American Choral Directors Association, the American Society of University Composers, the College Music Society, the American Musicological Society, and the Louisiana Music Educators Association as well as annual tours of the southeastern United States and Europe. In addition, the DCS is responsible for the graduate program in choral conducting, a program that has produced over 35 DMA graduates and 65 MM graduates in the past 25 years. Graduates of the choral conducting program are now teaching at all levels in over 25 states and several foreign countries. Notably, a two million dollar endowment for the choral program is set to mature and be available to the DCS within two years.

The DCS should be prepared to teach, conduct, and maintain an active, successful, nationally and internationally respected program in choral music within a School of Music of over 60 faculty and over 430 music majors. The DCS is assisted by an associate DCS, three graduate assistants and other staff.
